Saints art rug | JULIEN JACA (DINODO STUDIO)

€0.00

Saints belongs to Road's Angels, the series in which Julien Jaca and Dinodo Studio turn the biker vest into a hand-knotted art rug. The vest has long been a symbol of rebellion, protection and belonging. The piece follows the cut-out silhouette of a sleeveless vest, with a hooded skull framed by flames at its centre, between two banners in gothic lettering that read Saints and Heaven.

Jaca's years as a tattoo artist run through every detail: the crackled ivory patches, the red stitch lines, the laced sides, the worn grey ground and the frayed armholes. No longer armour for the body, the vest becomes a new kind of skin for the home, laid down to ground a space rather than worn to face the road.

Knotted by hand in wool, silk, alpaca and nettle, the mix of fibres plays with texture and sheen, from the dense, matt patches to the glossy silk of the hood. Saints can be laid on the floor as a sculptural piece or hung as a large-scale tapestry, moving between collectible design and contemporary textile art.

About the artist

JULIEN JACA

Born in Toulouse in 1985, Julien Jaca is a French painter whose work draws on tattoo culture and on American and European visual symbolism. After studying at the Toulouse School of Fine Arts, he spent years travelling the world as a tattoo artist, absorbing traditional crafts and sacred iconography along the way.

Since 2018 he has devoted himself entirely to painting, developing an intuitive visual language that nods to Matisse and Twombly. With Dinodo Studio he has created Road Angels, which reimagines the biker jacket as a rug, and Crying Flowers, where his dripping blooms become sculpted, hand-knotted textile art.

His Dinodo Studio pieces can be seen and acquired in Barcelona at BLANCONEGRO BARCELONA.

About the brand

DINODO STUDIO

Dinodo Studio is a textile art studio founded by Kian and Keyvan Rahnamoon, second-generation rug producers and devoted art collectors. Conceived as the world's first artist-centric textile studio, it approaches the hand-knotted rug as a medium for contemporary art, inviting renowned artists to translate their vision into limited-edition art rugs and tapestries made to be collected.

Every piece is made by hand, where artistic invention meets traditional weaving techniques. Between its atelier in Nepal and the workshops of Kyrgyzstan, the studio works alongside skilled artisans whose heritage and expertise shape each work. Materials are chosen with the same care: cashmere, alpaca wool, linen and silk, alongside recycled and natural fibers explored in the search for textiles that are both sustainable and distinctive.

This collaborative approach gives each artist the freedom to explore a diverse range of materials and techniques. The result is a body of hand-knotted, one-of-a-kind artist rugs that go beyond the functional object, weaving stories, traditions and values into every surface. Presented through groundbreaking exhibitions around the world, these works have established Dinodo Studio as a leader at the intersection of collectible art and design.

Today, Dinodo Studio continues to expand the language of textile art, creating rugs and tapestries rooted in fair craftsmanship, eco-friendly dyes and sustainable fibers: collectible works that carry the hand of the artisan as much as the vision of the artist.
